INTRODUCING OUR NEW RESEARCH MANAGER: DR. KIM WARK


New year, new faces! Joining the RCDF team is our newly appointed Research Manager, Dr. Kim Wark.

We’re committing nearly a million dollars in funding to key projects each year, and having a dedicated resource managing this area is crucial.  Kim will also be the go-to for managing industry relationships (she is exceptionally talented in this area!)

Kim brings a wealth of experience as a researcher, manager, and educator having worked previously in the health care sector for government, private and non-for-profit organisations.

Q&A With Dr. Kim Wark

Can you provide an overview of your previous work experience?

I have over 15 years experience working in the research and education sectors in public, private and not for profit organisations including: CSIRO, Australian Red Cross Blood Service, Laureate Universities, Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria and Swinburne University. I’ve worked as a researcher in the biotech sector developing platform technologies, and have experience with grant management, research contracts, development research frameworks and workflow processes.

What will your main role at RCDF be? 

Three main areas of focus will be:

    • To develop and implement the Impactus Initiative
    • To help strength and build new partnerships to leverage additional funding
    • To develop a framework to award and manage research grants

What you’re looking forward to most about your new role?

Hearing about the amazing research in the field of paediatric brain cancer,  working with researchers and leaders to leverage common resources and more funding for researchers, enabling researchers to advance the knowledge and enable breakthroughs.

Tell us a funny/interesting fact about yourself

I’m the only person in the world who likes plane an hospital food,  I do meditation regularly, I used to do painting and pottery.
