Connor’s Run Launches for 2017
On Thursday April 20 we gathered the team, sponsors, partners and ambassadors of the run and RCD Foundation to celebrate the upcoming 5th annual Connor’s Run. With drinks, nibbles and a great view of the finish line at the Yarra river, we opened the registration for this year’s run live during the evening.
SOME OF THE MANY HIGHLIGHTS.
Katherine Matler spoke of her personal experience with music therapy during her treatment. The 120+ guests hung on her every word and were moved by her story.
Our incredible RCD ambassadors were out in full swing. Andy McGrath, James Tomkins, Lisa McCune, Sean McMahon and Feliks Zemdegs. Feliks wow’ed the crowd with his speed-solving of a Rubik’s cube and demonstrated why he is world champ.
Dr Peter Downie and Dr Jordan Hansford spoke about the AIM BRAIN Project, the world-leading project that is made possible by the fundraising from last and this year’s Connor’s Run. Many were inspired by the breakthroughs and leaps being made in brain cancer research.
As per our tradition, there was also an auction for bib no.1. This year’s lucky winner was Scott McElroy with a winning bid of $3100. Bib no.2 was won by Andrew Cox. Jane Dunn and Mark Avis also outbid the competition to pick up the Andrew McGrath signed football and the Melbourne Rebels Corporate Box respectively. Congrats to all auction winners and thank you to Hodges for the auction.
A new tradition begun, with the first ever SUPER FUNdraiser cape presented to long time fundraising champion Steve Collier. We’re producing more capes, for anyone raising $10,000 or more this year.
Thanks to everyone who came. It was a smashing start to the Connor’s Run 2017.
See you on September 17!
