Brain Power at the Student Leadership Conference

In an exciting start to our 2015 campaign, Liz took an opportunity to speak at the Student Leadership Conference held at Bond University, QLD. Over 150 girls from member schools of the Alliance of School Girls converged for a week of leadership training, responsibility management, and empowerment.

Before a captive audience, Liz told Connor’s story with familiar passion and conviction, encouraging the girls to take part in Brain Week 2015 by bringing it to their schools.

Joining Liz as RCD ambassadors were Iona Miller and Evelyn Turek who themselves represented Firbank in the 2014 conference. Iona and Evelyn mentored their own ‘crew’ of girls through the week, running daily group sessions, encouraging the girls to gain a greater understanding of their strengths and fears for the year ahead.

‘It is truly an unforgettable week. Likeminded, passionate girls from Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and the U.S come together to push their boundaries, broaden their understanding of themselves, and inspire one another to become influential, empowered women of the future!’   – Iona Miller

Liz joined an esteemed line-up of inspirational speakers including US social entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of Same Sky – Francine LeFrak, Co-Founder of Thankyou Water and 2014 Young Victorian of the Year – Daniel Flynn, and the first female Secretary General of the Australian Olympic committee – Fiona De Jong.
