A Sweet Collaboration for Brain Cancer Research: The Cake People
Introducing The Fairy Floss Dream Cake – A Cake with a Powerful Purpose
At the Robert Connor Dawes (RCD) Foundation, we know that behind every diagnosis, there’s a story—one filled with resilience, love, and hope. Today, we’re honoured to share the story of Jude, a brave 10-year-old who recently underwent brain surgery, and his incredible parents, Joanne and Stephen, the husband-and-wife duo behind The Cake People.
After years of unexplained migraines and vomiting, Jude’s symptoms were initially dismissed as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. But Joanne and Stephen trusted their instincts, pushed for answers, and eventually received the devastating news: a brain tumour. Thankfully, it was a low-grade glioma and was successfully removed.
This journey opened their eyes to the urgent need for early diagnosis and greater funding for childhood brain cancer research. And now, they’re turning their passion for baking into a force for change.
The Fairy Floss Dream Cake: A Sweet Way to Support Brain Cancer Research
To help fund research and support, The Cake People have created a limited-edition Fairy Floss Dream Cake—a fun, colourful cake that comes with a tub of fairy floss to “plonk” on top before serving. But this cake is more than just a treat—it’s a way to make a difference.
For every $45 cake sold, $10 will be donated to our foundation, to help fund vital brain cancer research and support services.
“We couldn’t think of a more meaningful partner than the RCD Foundation,” says Joanne and Stephen. “With your support, we can reach more families and raise both awareness and funding where it’s needed most.”
